Milton Park Wedding | Bowral Southern Highlands | Georgina & Philip
I am lucky enough to photograph quite a few weddings at Milton Park but each one is very different from the next. No matter how many times I photograph the estate I always find something new and interesting to explore.
Throughout the year different seasons offer so many opportunities to create something unique. For Georgina and Philip’s wedding, it was Winter to play host which I loved.
Milton Park Winter Wedding
Phil was born in Cambridge, UK, while his father was finishing postdoctoral studies there. His parents are from Chicago and Milwaukee though he was raised in Sydney.
After high school, he moved to the American midwest for a year, before returning to Australia and enrolling at Sydney University. He cut a Bachelor of Science short to pursue pilot training.
Georgina was born in Dorrigo, a tiny mid-north coast town in NSW. Her father is originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, and mother from Sydney.
Georgina is an amazing artist and she told me she always drew as a child and eventually studied an Architecture degree because of her love for design, physics and art. She also completed her Master degree in Architecture at Sydney Uni and started her own business at 19.
How Gergina & Philip Met
Milton Park Bowral
My assistant Simone and I met the boys at Milton Park for photos in the bar area. Philip’s suit was from G. A. Zink & Sons Tailoring which happens to be the same family tailor where Georgina’s father had his wedding suit made.
The boys were very relaxed and easy to photograph. I love using the dark wood backdrop combined with natural light Milton Park’s bar provides.
After photographing the boys we went upstairs to the bridal suite to photograph Georgina. Georgina looked amazing in her Pronovias gown and we got some great portraits before heading to the ceremony.
As wedding photographers, we get to meet so many different couples from a wide variety of backgrounds and is honestly one of the reasons I love doing what I do.
The whole wedding party were very laid back and so easy to get along with. The amount of time we had for photos ensured a relaxed and creative feel throughout the whole day. It’s not always possible to have a lot of time for photos during the wedding day but Georgina and Philip were very accommodating which I appreciated so much.
After the ceremony, we had a small detour for a break and some impromptu basketball, before heading back to Milton Park for location photos.
The reception was help in The Orangerie which overlooks the French bathhouse and manicured gardens. I love photographing couples in front of the French bathhouse and always prefer around dusk if possible and usually right before the reception starts is a good time.
The vendors, wedding party, family and guests were all amazing to work with and Georgina and Philips wedding day really was a perfect day.
I do have to mention Georgina’s mum Lynne who made the wedding cake and was also responsible for all the other floral arrangements other than the bouquets and boutonnieres. Artistic creative people obviously runs in the family.
